Nas‘ Queensbridge Venture Partners project will seek to integrate an overwhelmingly white and Asian tech community as it partners with NYC private technical school General Assembly in an effort to raise both money and awareness for a less porcelain complected pool of candidates. The initiative will be funded in part by Google, Microsoft and Hirepurpose, who are also looking to introduce a bit of diversity to their own lunch rooms,  subsidizing classes for hispanic women and veterans who are looking to brush up on their coding skills.

A noble initiative from the Queens MC, whose absolutely stellar Time Is Illmatic documentary just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival to acclaim far and wide on the 20th anniversary of his masterful debut. Nasty recently sat in with A Tribe Called Quest‘s Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Frannie Kelley on NPR Hip-Hop’s mid-tempo Microphone Check podcast. You can listen to the Queens bomber speak to his influences and future collaborators for his upcoming 12th studio release, the follow-up to 2012’s Life Is Good. You can listen to Nas speak to his on Microphone Check below, but we’ll have more on his tech community initiative as details unfold.
